Simon Kenton Pathfinders
The Simon Kenton Pathfinders is a charitable, non-profit (501 (c) 3) community organization formed in Summer of 1997 for the purposes of developing a multi-use trail in Champaign County of Ohio.
Boy Scouts work with the Simon Kenton Pathfinders to make improvements on the trail. Rain could not stop the scouts from Troops 11, 88, 258, 24 and Packs 88 and 66 of Champaign County celebrating the 100th Anniversary of scouting by helping the Simon Kenton Pathfinders trim back honeysuckle on the Simon Kenton Trail.
39 Scouts and Leaders from Champaign County along with the SKPathfinders worked from 8am until 3pm Saturday June 5, 2010 trimming and chipping honeysuckle on 1/4 mile of the trail.
Girl Scout Troops 32042, 31017, and 30194 adopted planters along the Simon Kenton Trail. These planters, located along the trail near the Urbana Depot on Miami St., were overgrown with weeds. The troops cleaned them out, added fresh top soil and planted lovely flowers. Their help and pride in the community is greatly appreciated by the Simon Kenton Pathfinders and all who use the trail.
The Trail is 10 miles long. But with the spurs, and an additional loop around Melvin Miller Park, it stretches to 11 miles. Hope you like the tour.
